Countries that Require Travel Medical Insurance

Aruba

Aruba requires all travelers to purchase Covid-19 insurance from the Aruba government which covers up to $75,000 in healthcare. 

If a traveler already purchased private travel insurance, they will still need to get the Aruba policy. 

Brazil

Brazil is open to international tourism as of July 29, 2020. Visitors must have travel health insurance that covers COVID-19 for the duration of their trip. Travelers will be required to show proof of this insurance before departure and again after arrival in Brazil.

Cambodia

Visitors must show proof of emergency medical travel insurance with medical coverage of at least $50,000.

Costa Rica

Costa Rica is open to tourists from select, lower-risk countries as of August 1, 2020. They must show proof of travel medical insurance that covers emergency medical care.

Cuba

Those traveling to Cuba, including Cubans living abroad and visiting temporarily, are required to purchase emergency medical insurance for visiting the country.

Dubai

Foreigners visiting Dubai must present proof of travel medical insurance that covers COVID-19. The proof must be presented at the time of boarding.

Ecuador

All travelers to Ecuador are required to have emergency travel medical insurance coverage.

French Polynesia

Upon arrival, visitors who are not part of the French healthcare system are required to have proof of emergency travel medical insurance or verification of their means to pay medical expenses out of pocket.

Lebanon

All tourists from all destinations need emergency travel medical coverage that will cover the expense of coronavirus medical treatment.

Russia

If your country of residence requires visiting Russian citizens to obtain emergency travel medical insurance before visiting your country, Russia requires you reciprocate with the same coverage

Seychelles

Visitors must have emergency travel medical insurance for visiting.

St. Maarten

Visitors to St. Maarten are required to submit a health authorization application to request permission to enter. They must show proof of emergency travel medical insurance that covers COVID-19. Visitors must show proof of a negative PCR coronavirus test dated no less than 72 hours before travel. Visitors from low-risk countries are exempt from the negative PCR test requirement.

Tahiti

All travelers to Tahiti are required to fill out an online entry form and declare that they have purchased travel insurance that covers Covid-19 or “or personally assume all expenses related to cost of care including hospitalization, confinement, or repatriation, should the visitor fall ill during their stay.”

Thailand

Visitors to Thailand must have emergency travel medical insurance that has Covid-19 coverage.

Turkey

All foreign visitors under the age of 65 years traveling to Turkey on long stay tourist visas are required to have travel insurance.

Turks and Caicos Islands

Travel medical insurance will be required for entry.

Ukraine

Ukraine requires visitors to have emergency travel medical insurance that includes emergency medical evacuation and repatriation of remains. Should also cover COVID-19 related medical expenses.

United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates now states that all travelers over the age of 11 must have valid travel insurance that covers international healthcare. 

Travelers are also required to provide negative results from a Covid-19 PCR test taken no more than 96 hours before arrival. 

Most travelers arriving to the UAE will arrive in Dubai which also has its own entry requirements.
