I purchased "cancel for any reason" trip insurance. There were three criteria that needed to be met for a claim. I met all three but was denied. The first denial gave lists of "other covered events" like earthquake, sick family member etc. (but it was 'cancel for any reason') They also told me I hadn't purchased enough insurance. I purchased enough to cover my non-refundable penalties as stated in their "Travel Insurance Certificate". The appeal was a joke. They told me my non-refundable penalties were more than they were. I backed up everything proof from my VISA statements. They ignored my letter of appeal and just printed more parts of the policy that didn't apply to my situation. My in-laws booked a $25,000 cruise in September for January. In December, his doctor suggested some tests for a prolonged cough and told him it would be best not to leave the country so he cancelled. It's March 24th and TravelSafe is still dragging their feet about paying the claim. They have required medical records back 3 months prior to him even booking his trip, trying to look for some sort of pre-existing condition on which they could deny his claim.
