Plan Details

This plan is unique in that it provides the following:

  • Plan is offered in two options: a budget option and a select option, so students and their families have choices.
  • Plan includes emergency assistance services for pre-trip information, provider referrals, travel document replacement, lost luggage assistance, and more.
  • Plan includes reimbursement for emergency reunion if the insured is hospitalized.
  • Select plan includes 24-hour AD&D and dental treatment due to accidents.
  • Plan covers maternity care as usual and customary.
  • Benefit period is extended for up to 60 days after the policy termination date if insured is ill or hospitalized on the termination date.
  • Deductible is cut by half if treatment is received from a student health center.

Limitations

The following are the limitations on this plan’s coverage:

  • Coverage for routine newborn care is relatively limited ($750 or $250).
  • Coverage for sports-related injury or illness is limited to $5,000 and medical only.
  • Coverage for acts of terrorism is limited to $50,000 and medical only.
  • Dental coverage is limited and no dental upgrade is available.
  • Significant pre-certification penalties apply if the insured fails to pre-certify medical treatment (except in emergency cases).
  • Repatriation limit is not high when compared to other plans.
  • Some treatment, including physical therapy, cannot be obtained at a student health center.
