The Good: This is comprehensive student travel insurance and includes all the expected package plan coverages, including cancellation, interruption, travel delays and missed connections, lost and delayed baggage, and medical expenses. Optional ‘cancel for any reason’ can be selected by individual group members or the entire group for up to 75% of pre-paid non refundable trip cost reimbursement. Coverage for pre-existing conditions is available if plan is purchased before the final trip payment.

The Drawbacks: The look-back period for pre-existing medical conditions is long (180 days). At least 10 travelers must be on the trip with the same travel dates and all travelers must be insured. Plus, the full cost of the group trip must be insured. Not all benefits are available to residents of all states.

The Bottom Line: This plan is ideal or student, civic or youth organizations where at least 80% of those traveling in the group are age 35 or younger. With medical expenses and evacuation coverage, this plan is ideal for student group trips abroad.
