Elvia Travel Insurance helped me a lot this year, when my job moved from office tasks to flying all over America.I have the annual coverage and I can say I’m satisfied.

  2. Simon Kemp says:

We had a bad experience with them. We started to use them through a broker since around 1998 and repeatedly informed the broker/Elvia of my partners condition (endometriosis since 1993) no excess was asked for. It was finally decided that only a hysterectomy would resolves this condition. Resulting in my partner needing to go into hospital quite quickly for which meant the Ski holiday we had booked she could no longer go on. So we duly put in a claim for 1 person (around £600 our first ever insurance claim) – we go as a group so I still went, the claim was rejected as it they had classed it as a pre-existing condition Endometrosis which then came under the title under investigation. I wrote but to no avail. It turns that the policy will not cover you if you have an existing conditions so be careful even though you are declaring a condition that goes back beyond 5 years it looks like it get categorised as “under investigation”
We have since been insured by EHICPLUS at 1/2 the cost with an excess to pay for any condition relating to the hysterectomy. So we know what to expect.
So bear mind this when declaring a pre existing condition – if the condition had occurred and we had been abroad when she needed to be admitted to hospital I shudder to think about the cost we would have incurred – we thought we had done everything to cover us but this was not the case alarmingly neither did we know we would not be covered – best to be forewarned

They made me pay insurance I didn’t ask for. I specifically wanted insurance only for 3 weeks and they automatically sent me a bill for the next year claiming that it’s in the contract. My husband had the same problem before we got married. It’s a scam. DO NOT buy insurance from Elvia.

  4. The search engines helped me find your site. Glad i found it because i have learned a lot here. Thanks for all your work!

  5. tourist says:

i bought elvia insurance as standard with my easyjet flight.
our car was broken into and all our bags taken from the locked trunk of the car.
elvia declines resposibility for items left in a car locked or unlocked,
    so,,we recieved nothing from them.
altogether my girl and i lost 2 driving licences, keys, credit cards, 2 cameras, 2 ipods, all our books and clothes, jewlery, cosmetics,
our holiday was ruined and we had no cover.
if you are insured with elvia and have a hire car, either completly remove your posesions from the car everytime you leave it or.
    GET ANOTHER INSURANCE COMPANY,.
    thanks for bnothing elvia,,,

  7. shepherd says:

Very poor in the claims department. Watch out for the excess on each section of the policy. We had 2 excesses applied. Also watch out for the amount paid out for stolen property – reduced for wear and tear, not replacement value – even for spectacles.

Watch out for them not paying out for articles stolen where you cannot provide a receipt -even for small value items.

We got about 50% paid out for a small claim when my bag was stolen. They would not reply to my complaint and request for a review of the “settlement”.

I will never recommend anyone to insure with them
