U.S. State Department Travel Warning for Syria

travel.state.govYesterday, the United States Department of State issued a travel warning recommending that all U.S. citizens depart Syria immediately. The government has suspended all embassy operations due to the ongoing violence and a deteriorating security situation.

All official U.S. embassy personnel and their families have departed.

The U.S. State Department continues to attempt to reach its citizens that remain in Syria. Inquiries regarding U.S. citizens can be sent to: SyriaEmergencyUSC@state.gov.

Callers in the U.S. and Canada can use the following toll-free number: 888-407-4747.

Callers outside the U.S. and Canada can use this number: 202-501-4444.

U.S. citizens who choose to remain in Syria are requested to enroll their location through the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive the latest information and share next-of-kin contacts.

The Polish government will serve as the protecting power for U.S. interests in Syria effective immediately. For emergency assistance, U.S. citizens should contact the U.S. Interests Section via telephone at 963 954 666 693 or e-mail damaszek.usint@msz.gov.pl.
