U.S. State Department Travel Warning for Pakistan

travel.state.govThe State Department recently issued an updated travel warning for Pakistan. U.S. citizens are warned of ongoing security concerns as well as widespread demonstrations on the lack of available energy and political demonstration protesting drone attacks.

The government of Pakistan maintains heightened security measures, particularly for major cities.. Terrorist groups continue to seek out and attack locations where U.S. citizens and other westerners are known to visit, including shopping areas, hotels, and restaurants, and sometimes dressed as Pakistan security forces in order to gain unsuspected access to these areas.

There have been a number of attacks over the last year and U.S. citizens in Pakistan are urged to avoid hotels that fail to apply stringent security measures. Citizens are also encouraged to remain aware at all times, especially when visiting locations frequented by Westerners.
