You don't say whether you're a U.S. citizen or not, but St. Thomas is part of the U.S. and so depending on how you get there, i.e., are you traveling through non-U.S. territory then a valid U.S. driver's license is just fine (but inter-island travel won't be possible). If you have your current passport, you can have an update expedited as well. I once got my passport re-issued for a surprise trip to Sweden in less than 5 days. See this link for information: http://travel.state.gov/passport/hurry/hurry_831.html.

I am flying to St. Lucia with a one-way ticket to join my husband on our sailboat. We will leave St. Lucia via the boat. What documentation do I need to give the airline verifying I am leaving the country?

<blockquote>See the entry and exit requirements for St. Lucia here: http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_1027.html</blockquote>
